Classic Moustaches For Movember Blogathon - In Support Of "Movember"

During November each year, Movember is responsible for the sprouting of moustaches on thousands of men’s faces, in the US and around the world. With their Mo’s, these men raise vital funds and awareness for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer and other cancers that affect men.

I think this is a really important cause. Several members on my Dad's side of the family have been severely affected by man-cancers, and I'm all for fundraising for it. I think It's very important indeed, and that's why I developed this blogathon.

Ok, so evidently I can't grow a tache for Movember in support of prostate cancer because... I'm a girl. BUT I can blog about moustaches! So I'm hosting a little blogathon in support of Movember, "Classic Moustaches For Movember". Bloggers, gather 'round. All you have to do is post about something to do with moustaches in your own classic-movie-blogging way, and link to the donation page (that one is for the US, but it's easy to find the UK one too) on the Movember website! There are more famous, debonaire classic actors with moustaches than you can fit in one book, let alone one post, so there should be lots to blog about :-)Your post can go up any time before the end of November. I hope this gives everyone time to participate!

Just comment with a link to your blog on this post and I'll add you to the list of blogs participating. Naturally, normal blogathon etiquette applies, so in your post just link back to this one if you don't mind :-), and this blogathon will be going on until the 31st November. It would be cool, no? *twiddles moustache* If you'd like to join, grab one of my badges for it and spread the word! We can have a classic moustache party :-D

My post for the blogathon will go up sometime next week. Happy moustaching!

My Dad has had a moustache all my life and long before that giving me the strange sensation that if he shaved it off I would not see him quite the same way physically. Cancer also runs in my family and my Granddad died of colon cancer probably in one of the worst ways possible. He never went in and got checked until it was far past too late watching that transpire at a young age was devastating. You are doing a wonderful passionate act of kindness by acting for the cause and I applaud you. Personally I love men with facial hair, always have between my Uncle who sports the beard as well and my dear Dad it is hard not to. I love film and was happy to see Charlie on your blog he is actually a topic of discussion on co-run blog that I work on with a friend of mine. I do the research and she maintains the blog so I will definitely talk to her to get us in on the blogathon. I recently relocated and I am traveling a lot more than I used to so my time has become more limited but I’ve found a way to still research with some innovative technology provided by the service provider I ended up going with. That was a bit of a challenge at first as quite a few of my neighbors had cable so I looked into cable, naturally. It was a bit shocking that Comcast limiting and not offering 100% digital programming. International channels are also limited and they were not offering HD free for life. This will not do! Now I did find that with Dish Network I could get more programming and movie channels for far less money plus a free Sling Adapter, which fits my need to bring my services with me wherever I go. I ended up changing jobs and started working for Dish Network, still traveling as I had been but armed with tools. Now I am clear that whatever makes it easiest to work on my hobby while traveling and get great entertainment at an affordable price is what is necessary. It is important to me that there is happiness in my life and those counting on me. I like to share knowledge not keep it for myself as some type of power hungry Leo on the up rise so I shared my findings with my neighbors whose husbands travel and there has been some change over’s in providers. The real issue is being able to do what I need to do while I am away and I am very passionate about the blog as I am sure you are too. You can count us in and I can also guarantee my Dad and Uncle will never shave, manicure maybe but shave no way!

Does it have to be a new post or can I contribute ones I wrote before? I have a series on my blog called "Is that Mustache Really Necessary?" with classic movie mustaches which definitely fit the bill :) http://silentsandtalkies.blogspot.com/search/label/mustaches

Bette, in complete ignorance of your blogathon, I thought 2 of the participants had just accidentally done such posts at the same time. today I did a fun rebuttal post about famous moustached stars WITHOUT their moustaches. I would like to make it part of this blogathon. My brother-in-law was just diagnosed with prostate cancer, and this idea means a lot to me. Would it be OK. This is ClassicBecky of http://www.classicbeckbrainfood.blogspot.com. I will link to the donation page and put up your logo. I hope it's OK -- November is almost over, but better late than never, I guess!

Thank you for supporting Movember Bette. As you know it means a lot to me and other members of my family who have had prostate cancer. Raising awareness of male cancers helps so many people, not just the men but the women who live with them and their cancer. Thank you!!
